Senior Citizens in Nursing Homes

This is Monday so it is when I recommend a way that you can either donate an item or your time. When it comes to Senior Citizens there are so many ways that you can donate your time or items.  Today I am going to recommend going by the store and purchasing sweat pants for someone at a senior home.

My aunt works in a nursing home in Alabama and she has spoken of people who are in her nursing home that have no family to purchase items for them. Often those in a nursing home need walkers and going to the bathroom is difficult when trying to hold onto their walkers and getting their pants pulled down at the same time.

Sweat pants could give them a bit of independence and also let them know that someone cares. If you have time and honestly plan to donate on a regular basis I suggest asking the nursing home Social Worker if there is someone in the home that never gets visitors. Try adopting this person. Visit them every couple of weeks and take them a basket of fresh fruit or snack items. Get to know them. Let them know that they have not been forgotten.

If you don’t have the time or aren’t ready to allow yourself to become emotionally involved with someone who may not be on this earth much longer than by all means you can do your part by donating sweat pants anonymously. Your gift will still be appreciated.

If you know of a way that people can give to their community and would like for me to feature it on this blog please drop me an email at Grace2882@aol.com. Please make the suggestion something that will help in all communities so that they can give on their local level.
