Pork Roast with Cabbage

I saw a similar recipe on Pinterest but changed it a bit to suit my needs more. I really love 1 pot meals and this fits that category. It is very simple to make. I bought a hog last year and it is in my freezer. I had a 2-3 pound smoked pork butt that I chopped and used in this recipe and it was a great choice.

Pork Roast with Cabbage

  • 2-3 smoked pork roast, chopped small
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 large head cabbage, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Add pork roast to a hot pain and cook stirring often until meat is lightly browned. Add onion and garlic powder and stirring often cook until onion is caramelized (about 10 minutes). Add cabbage and cook until tender (about 10 minutes). Add spices and stir well and simmer for 30 minutes stirring often. Serve warm.

I will be making this recipe often. I did not drain grease out of pain after browning the pork roast. I used that to caramelize the onion and cook the cabbage. This recipe will probably be very addictive for me.

  1. I love cabbage, especially fried. This recipe will just “kick it up a notch,” as Emeril would say!

    • Oh this is so good that I made it again today and Caleb and my brother-in-law loved it. Donna thought it needed some extra spices but she couldn’t figure out exactly what it needed. I loved it as is. :)
