Home Style Ribs

I got the original recipe from the Taste of Home Slow Cooker Cookbook.  I converted the recipe to sugar-free and low carb to meet my Diabetic needs. We really enjoyed this the first night but the second night it was even better. I used beef short ribs but plan to use pork country-style ribs next time.

This was very good. I ate it with the Cabbage with Bacon as a side and had a low carb Cranberry Pecan Muffin. Total Carb count for the meal was 12.

Home Style Ribs

  • 4-5 pounds boneless pork spareribs, cut into pieces
  • 3 tablespoons dried minced onions
  • 1 cup ketchup (use low carb)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Twin Brown Sugar (this is zero carbs)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (this naturally helps your body to process carbs)
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons paprika

Mix everything but the ribs in a large mixing bowl. Place ribs in bottom of crockpot and pour sauce on top. Cook on low for 8 hours or until ribs are tender. (Beef take all of the 8 hours but pork ribs are usually done for me in about 6.5 hours)
