Mike and I loved these. They are very light and simple to do. I made them into patties before work and poured the marinade over the top. I let them sit in the refrigerator all day and when I came home I popped them on the grill. Top with sauteed mushrooms in garlic and butter and you have a very nice meal. If you don’t like mushrooms you can make the burgers and eat them alone. That is how Mike had his.
Asian Style Hamburgers
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons 1 carb ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 4-ounce can mushrooms (or use 8 ounces of fresh mushrooms)
- 1 Tablespoon butter and 1 clove garlic minced
Shape meat into 4 patties, place in a shallow dish. In a bowl, whisk together the oil, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, garlic and pepper. Pour all but 1/4 cup of marinade over the top of the patties. Cover and place in refrigerator for up to 3 hours. Store remaining marinade in refrigerator as well.
Grill burgers, uncovered, over medium heat for 5-6 minutes on each side until meat juices run clear, basting occasionally with reserved marinade.
In small sauce pan add mushrooms (drained) and butter with garlic. Heat thoroughly and place over burgers. Serves 4.
