Steak Sauce Round Steak

I used to make this often for many years and for some reason I stopped about 10 years ago. Mike was so happy when I brought this old tried and true recipe back out again. I added potatoes to the pan for him and carrots for me. I ate carrots with mine. This is made on top of the stove and is a very easy recipe. I have never tried to do this in a slow cooker but believe that it could easily be done that way.

Steak Sauce Round Steak

  • 3-4 pound round steak
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 black pepper
  • 1 cup of steak sauce (look at carb count before purchasing. I used the brand from Aldi’s)
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 bag baby carrots

Salt and Pepper the round steak and lightly brown in olive oil it in a large saute pan with a lid. Mix remaining ingredients except carrots and once meat is browned pour over top of steak. Cover and allow to simmer until most of liquid is gone. Be very careful not to allow it to go dry. Once most of water is gone add carrots to the pan and enough water to cover again. Stir  to mix the spices from the beginning into the liquid. Replace cover and allow to simmer until most of water is gone once again. Remove from heat and serve. Serves 8.
